God Keeps His Promises

Biblical Theology for Kids

For years I have been frustrated with the culture’s effective hijacking of the rainbow to represent perversion. Especially since the rainbow is a reminder for all people who will ever live, that God keeps His promises. I wanted to instill in my children that when we see a rainbow in the sky, or anywhere in culture, that we would be reminded that God is faithful to keep His promises. He is just and He is good! And so in my family, we are taking the rainbow BACK! I hope this little diy booklet is a fun activity and a meaningful reminder for your child of God’s eternal faithfulness! It’s Easy: Make Your Own Cloth Diaper Cover!

DIY Baby, Uncategorized

There is so much out there! And I am in no way the authority on Cloth Diapering! I am just someone who loves to make things instead of buying them sometimes. I also love to share good ideas with people when I get them! So I hope this helps if you are trying to tackle the world of handmade cloth diapers!

What You’ll Need:

  • P.U.L. (Polyurethane-Lined) Fabric- You should be able to get 3 diaper covers out of 1 yard. If you buy in-store, you can purchase by the yard, but there are prepackaged 3 diaper-sized pieces available online for a reasonable price.
    • I bought mine at Joann, you can find it here
    • but Amazon also has it available hereimg_5976
  • 1/4 inch Elastic (I bought for $0.84 at Walmart)
  • Snaps or Velcro (you will need 18 sets of snaps)
    • You can purchase Babyville Boutique brand from Amazon here or JoAnn here
    • OR you could buy this container of 360 sets of snaps from Amazon hereimg_5979
  • Snap Pliers and Awl-JoAnn sells them here or Amazon has a cheaper one here
  • Straight Pins
  • Thread to match P.U.L.
  • Sewing Shearsimg_5985
  • Sewing Machine

  • Iron and Ironing Board

  • Pattern-Just Download and Print-Here’s the PDF  links:
  • Large pattern
  • Medium pattern
  • Small Pattern

Tips Before You Get Started:

  • When using P.U.L., Remember to iron only on fabric side, and do not put the iron directly on white plastic side. Also, iron only on a low setting, so the plastic does not melt, which will result in a disaster and leaks.
  • When purchasing these items at JoAnn, just remember they usually have a coupon or multiple coupons running. they also accept competitors’ coupons. ie. Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, etc.
  • You can use any soaker you’d like. I have made my own using the smaller LEFTOVER pieces of P.U.L. Material, so don’t throw away your scraps!
  • Before you begin sewing, test your machine on some scrap fabric to make sure your machine is working properly and to help you see what it’s like to sew using P.U.L.
  • Use a ballpoint sewing machine needle if you have one, to help with keeping the fabric looking nice.
  • Snaps are hard to remove once they’re on, so make sure they are in the right place before you use the pliers to secure them.

Step By Step:

Diaper Cover DIY

  1. Print out, tape pages together, and cut out this free PDF Pattern. Size Small (8-20 lbs..)
    • Size Medium (18-28 lbs.)
    • Size Large (25-40 lbs.)
  2. Pin Pattern to fabric and cut out pattern on P.U.L.***Use Pins minimally, and try to only place them on the edge of the fabric, where it is ok if it leaks. ***
    • Make sure fold edge is placed on the fold of the fabric, and cut 2 of the gussets
  3. Using Awl, puncture where snaps will be placed. The 8 circles and dots on the pattern show where to puncture the pattern and fabric.
  4. Press and Crease where you want seams around whole diaper cover. The 3 elastic casing tabs on the pattern should be folded over about 1 inch.
    • The rest of the edges should be folded over 1/4-3/8 inch.
    • Fold over and press the Gusset along the straight edge at 1/2 inch.
  5. Sew all seams except elastic casing tabs. (we’ll do those soon)
  6. Pin and Sew Elastic Casing along leg holes to the gussetsPin and sew right sides together, along the curved edges of both the gusset and the portion where the legs go.
    • Sew as close to the edge as possible.
    • ***Take it slow here, as sewing curves is sometimes tricky.***
  7. Fold on crease and sew where you just stitched to make the elastic casing for the first gussets. This makes a lot more sense in the video…I’m not the greatest at describing this step.
    • At this point, you need to sew the back elastic casing tab. I forgot to show this in the video, but you want to sew it far enough down that the 1/4 inch elastic will still fit through between the fabric.
  8.  Sew Elastic Casing on top of second gussets (the ones that look like boats) Again, make sure you remember to keep room for the elastic to feed through between the fabric.
  9. Add Snaps or Velcro. If using snaps, you will need 18 sets total, including 2 to hold the soaker in place.
    • If you are using Velcro, you need to make sure it is the sew-on kind, not the stick-on kind.
  10. Insert Elastic into all casings and sew into placeYou’ll need 5 pieces cut to the length listed by size below:
    •  Tuck and finish at corners.
        • Small Diaper Cover: 5 in. long pieces
        • Medium Diaper Cover: 5 1/2 in. long pieces
        • Large Diaper Cover: 6 in. long pieces

FREE! Praise God!

Uncategorized

The Lord has truly blessed America! The sacrifice of so many has borne fruit for the generations to come. The fruit of FREEDOM! I pray I wouldn’t take that for granted, but return to God in thanksgiving for the good gifts He has given us, and continue to train up my children to fear the Lord and serve Him alone in this land in which we have been afforded so much freedom. To God be all the glory!

I want to always point back to Jesus and praise Him in all seasons, and as we celebrate our country’s Independence Day, I’m reminded of the truer deeper freedom we have in Christ. He has purchased our freedom from the bonds of slavery of sin! That means those who put their faith in Christ are saved from the punishment of their sin, but also, as Romans 8 says, free from the power of sin! PRAISE GOD! While we were each born with a nature to sin against God, through Jesus death and resurrection, we are FREE from the law of sin and death! And as the Scripture also says, we are now bond servants of Christ, and no longer slaves to sin! And through the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers, we can choose obedience over sin. PRAISE GOD!

Here’s a coloring page I came up with to help share these truths with my kiddos and kids at my church. It’s just a pdf link. Totally free. No shenanigans, I promise! —> https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:a9e0e975-a449-30d1-b48f-eece1696be5c

We also sang the song “Romans 8” by the musical group Slugs and Bugs to memorize this passage! It helps me remember the passage too! Music is an amazing memorization tool! Click here to hear it—> https://youtu.be/oegj93dD3-k
